Demonic is bewildering in that it deconstructs victims’ words, mass hysteria and our own fascination with gruesome news and crime documentaries such as Making a Murder. Halfway between a horror story and a documentary, Pia Borg elevates these testimonies, like a mysterious virus she pierces through various types of footage – archives, historic reconstructions, empty premises or high angles onto tape recorders turning them into distressing monoliths –, and contaminates our imagination.
